The Smaltz-Kness/York Township Trust will offer scholarship grants to residents of York Township who have been accepted for post-secondary enrollment at an accredited institution. It may be a college, university, community college, or vocational/technical school.

All applicants must have been a resident of York Township for a minimum of one year prior to the date of application.

Anyone who received the scholarship for one year is eligible to apply for a second year. Grant recipients will be selected by the trustees upon review of all submitted applications. Preference, as determined by the trustees, will be given to:

•Graduating high school seniors.

•Applicants pursuing their first year of post-secondary education.

•Students enrolled in full-time status.

In 2022, the trustees presented seven applicants with scholarships totaling $14,000. The amount of this year’s grant will be determined by the funds available as well as the number of scholarship grants awarded.

Scholarship applications are available from the West Carroll High School Guidance Office, Trust President Barbara Mathey, Thomson Village Hall, and the village website www.thomsonil.com.

Applications must be completed, signed and returned by 5 p.m. Monday, April 3. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
